Our pastors & staff can be found on campus, but also in the community- at schools, youth centers, hospitals and homes. As leaders of our missional vibe, we desire to be “apostolic” leaders- engaging culture and developing valued connections with our community.
We are all shapes and sizes and come with different skills in areas like programming, counseling, small groups, Bible/spiritual training, communication and family/relational dynamics. We love using those gifts and experiences to help others find encouragement, wholeness and their own particular “shape” or purpose in God’s plan – helping recreate this world from the inside out: one person at a time!

Rachel Hsu - Children & Family Director
Full of energy and filled with the spirit of caring for others, Rachel was invited to attend CoJ in 2007. After wrestling with the invite, she accepted and has never looked back. Dedicated to her family, she spent many years as a stay-at-home mom. Rachel has a B.S. degree from OSU in Sociology with the focus being family structure and dynamics, and child development. She launched MOM Magazine in 2009. From that her passion grew to become more transparent and really live out God’s calling. With a desire to ‘dig deeper’ in her relationship with God, her family and friends, she wanted to experience more personal relationships and help children and families experience God’s love. She is truly humbled and is so thankful for the amazing Sunday School teachers we’ve been blessed with at CoJ. She is honored to be the Director of Children and Family Ministries.

Nicci Santanna - Music Leader
Nicci moved to the Tri-Cities in the summer of 1994. She began attending CoJ that fall and has been here ever since (with a brief pause while living in Texas). Nicci has been intimately connected with music since the age of two and began taking piano lessons at the age of five. Throughout school she was involved with many different choirs and bands and went on to study music at Columbia Basin College. “God is my life and music is such a core part of who I am. I feel beyond blessed to be called into a life that unites these!” Nicci is also the mother of two incredible girls, Jazlyn and Noela, who can often be seen on the stage, already beginning their careers in music. “I am a nurse, a counselor, a maid, a laundress, a taxi driver, a teacher, a cook, a confidant… I am a mom, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!”
“Let go! Let God!”

Debbie Toner - Director of Community Development
Debbie Toner and her family (husband, Brad and two adult sons) have called the Cathedral of Joy home for nearly 25 years. Having served in a number of areas, God is now using Debbie in women’s ministries and small group development. Here at the Cathedral, we call them LIFEgroups. The value of community, or having a primary group to grow with, laugh with and love with, is important to Debbie. Everyone’s idea of family is different, not all families were nurturing and loving, not all memories are good and some folks have no family near them. A LIFEgroup provides an opportunity for healing, sharing gifts, serving God and exploring how God can use us to change the world. As Director of Community Development Debbie focuses on helping each person find their place in God’s story.

Kendall Kaiser - Director of Connectional Ministry
Kendall is the Director of Connectional Ministries at the Cathedral of Joy. He was raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He doesn’t remember a time when he “gave his life to Christ”, but rather, has grown closer in his walk with Christ over the years – often with the help of Disciples who God has placed in his path. He has his bachelors degree from University of Idaho in telecommunications, and worked as a commercial television producer in Portland for 15 years before moving to the Tri-Cities in 2008. In his role at COJ, he is in charge of everything tech – including the church web site. He loves meeting new people and teaching about anything related to content production. When he’s not working, Kendall loves spending time with his wife Erin and three kids – Kaitlyn, Thomas and Maggie.

Peggy Zumhofe - Executive Administrator
Peggy was raised in Warden, Washington and attended Kinman Business University in Spokane. She and her husband, Daryl, began attending the Cathedral of Joy in 1981. The prospect of an empty nest and after attending the weekly class Serving from the Heart, Peggy decided to volunteer at the church and discovered her love of administration is a God given gift. She was happy to accept the full-time position of Executive Administrator and Pastoral Care Coordinator, and loves her work. She is proud to be a part of a community that understands “church” is a verb and not a noun. Peggy’s greatest joy is her family – she’s the parent of two adult children and one grandson.

Carlos Diaz - Worship Arts Coordinator
Carlos was raised in Quincy Washington as a pastor’s kid, but says “it didn’t make me a Christian nor saved.” When his father passed away he decided to get right with God. Although it has been a long journey, it has been fun and exciting. Over the years, Carlos has enjoyed playing bass guitar with friends, meeting AMAZING people, and learning more about what God has planned for him everywhere he goes. He comes to us from Indian Wells California where he was an audio/video technician at a mega church. He has returned to Washington to be closer to his son in Quincy. Carlos loves people, and welcomes visitors at the sound booth – whether it’s just to say “hi” or to learn more about how YOU can help out with COJ’s Tech team! His favorite verse is Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there beany grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”

Although CoJ is not her primary home church, she feels like family here. Grimelda has been an active member of The Salvation Army church since she was a teenager and is currently an adult Sunday school teacher there. She has been instrumental in the relationship our two churches have to date. It is very unique that Grimelda attends a Hispanic Church and has both cultures in her life. Grimelda’s gift of Hospitality along with a commitment to serve the Lord is a blessing for the Cathedral of Joy. She loves people and has built many wonderful relationships here at CoJ. She enjoys shopping, music, and hanging out with her family.
