Call of the Wild
Dear Church Family,
If you ever ask an ordained pastor about their journey into the ministry, chances are a camp or some type of retreat ministry will come up in the discussion. Summer camping ministries were certainly a significant part of my call, and statistically I am not alone. Spending time away from the world on a retreat with others and focusing on God in community can play a tremendous part in anyone’s spiritual journey, particularly in our younger years. For some reason, God speaks very clearly through a campfire or a sailboat… I remember hearing that call while singing campfire songs and looking up at the stars on the beach front in Elementary School Camp at Twin Lakes, Idaho.
Of course, ordained pastors aren’t the only ones that have benefited from camping. At the Cathedral of Joy, we believe we are all called by God for some type of ministry. We are striving to become a church that builds better people, better Disciples of Jesus Christ. I am so proud of our summer offerings for children and youth. Our children just returned from their camp, and they had a blast! Our Mid-High are on a very special camp right now, in Montana… a trip that includes hiking and white water rafting as they reflect on God’s activity in their lives. We have several other camps coming up soon. Please look through this newsletter and prayerfully consider if God ahs placed a call upon your heart to lift up one of these options to a young person in your life. Please join me in praying for our upcoming Senior High camp and our VBS, as well as our Mid-High in Montana right now. And please don’t forget our to Senior High preparing for their Vision Trip to Honduras. We are so blessed to be a blessing to others.
Your Pastor,
Bryan White
